We came to know about Telulla School thanks to one of our sponsorship students who moved there.

We were quite shocked when he told us that in order to go to school he had to pay US$25 for his own desk and chair.

This is a lot of money for a family that barely earns $50 a month.

However, many of the schools end up having to charge for something because the government pays the teachers' salaries, but little else.

When we visited we found the school had a good library building, which had been funded by another NGO, but it was almost empty with no furniture and hardly any books.

Finishing this library is at the top of our funding wish list.
